- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 large potato (about 250g), peeled and cut into small cubes
- 300g frozen petits pois or garden peas
- 400ml chicken or vegetable stock
- 200ml semi-skimmed or whole milk
- 100g thick-cut ham, torn into pieces
- Small handful of fresh mint leaves (optional)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
